The Physics World 2013 Focus on Nanotechnology is now out

Cover of 2013 PW Nanotechnology Focus Issue

New for 2013.

By Matin Durrani

There’s just one purpose to this blog entry – to get you to check out the latest Physics World focus issue on nanotechnology.

Created in collaboration with our sister website nanotechweb.org, the new focus issue, which you can read in digital-magazine format simply by clicking this link, is packed with great content including a feature by Nobel-prize winning physicist Kostya Novoselov, who shared the 2010 prize with Andre Geim for their work on graphene.

In the focus issue:

• Nobel laureate Kostya S Novoselov and architect Tony Ling explain how the UK’s new National Graphene Institute at the University of Manchester is designed to get academia and industry working together on the 2D wonder material graphene.

Nanotechweb.org editor James Tyrrell talks to staff at Purdue University about nanoHUB-U – a series of dedicated online nanotechnology curriculum for you to immediately start improving your understanding of the nanotech world.

• Technology journalist Richard Stevenson visits specialist media provider Haydale to find out what kind of products will be the first to make use of graphene.

• Richard Stevenson also reports on how nanoparticles are set to play an important role in next-generation electricity-transmission networks.

The Focus on Nanotechnology also includes:

• a selection of research and industry news;
• an events page;
• four specially created videos: how to make graphene (filmed at Andre Geim and Kostya Novoselov’s lab at the University of Manchester); why the EU is so keen on this wonder material; and from delegates at the recent Seeing at the Nanoscale conference at the University of Bristol on what nanotechnology means for them and what the most likely applications of it will be.

Please do check out the new nanotechnology focus issue now.

    Managed to go through the different texts of the document that spells out quite a few points for the future use of the different types of nano-systems available or will be available in the future.
